Description
Hamilton Gardens is a free public park at the heart of Hamilton, New Zealand. Difficult to imagine that just 50 years ago it was an empty bleak city rubbish dump. It has been magically transformed to a beautiful place that also shows aspects in gardening of different nations and time. Different cultures and styles are greatly presented by Hamilton Gardens collections. I was not lucky enough and the day I was there in a rainy cold winter day. Even at that time it was so pretty that I really regret it was winter. Anyway, there are always pluses in winter - not many tourists and locals are walking there. I could imagine how beautiful golden trees are near Japanese garden lake in autumn, or how gorgeously blooming is Italian Renaissance garden in spring. Oh, I have to come there at least one more time. These gardens won the Garden of the Year award at the International Garden Tourism Awards in 2014 and I can clearly see why. It's very lovely place and I'm sure it will be interesting to people of all age groups and with all kind of interests.
