Advice

It's a pretty popular place among locals. In a warm summer day, you have to come before 8:30-9:00 to get a parking spot. Otherwise, come after 16:00, when people start leaving home.

Description

La Perouse is one of Sydney suburb, but many people are also referring to this lovely French name as to Botany Bay National Park. The park provides just a perfect combination of activities to do that are not so trivial. There is a quite windy hill where you could do kiting with your children. La Perouse is famous for its underwater life and one of the best SCUBA diving places in Sydney. The gem of the park is Bare Island with its fort. It's so pretty place just to walk on the rocky platform or walk around the island and you will find a secret place to sit and relax observing the ocean and waves breaking on the rocks. There are also organized tours to Bare Island Fort where you could get a bit of military historical information, check the official website for details. Also visit La Perouse museum or take a guided aboriginal tour from Yarra Bay House (contact them in advance). And of course, they are beaches with cafes and picnic areas. Public Congwong Bay Beach, Little Congwong Beach nude beach (Please note, nude beaches and culture in Australia are not the same as in Europe. Read more info in the Internet) and Frenchmans Bay Beach with protected area for swimming. Also, check out some short walking tracks along the coast. One thing that I have to mention is that it's a perfect spot to observe beautiful sunsets. Many photographers and people who just like photography like me come here in hope to take a couple of incredible sunset pictures. This is a perfect spot to catch one. Also, you would notice during the daytime that picturesque La Perouse is much admired by wedding photographers. As for me, for locals it's a perfect place to spend a day with your family of friends or even along, for tourists it's a place to understand local lifestyle and history outside of famous Bondi and Manly beaches.
